Jeff, Gracelyn and I arrived at Primary's about three hours ago. I thought I was going to be tough and be able to keep the tears in until she went in. When we went to get in the car Graclyn's prayer blanket was sitting on my front car seat. My mom had finished it in the middle of the night and brought it over for us to take. I couldn't help but cry. IT IS BEAUTIFUL! I LOVE IT! It means so much to me. I have such an amazing mom who cares so much for me and my little family. I love her and my dad so much! I will post a picture of the blanket later, right now it is with a very special little baby.
An hour ago they took Gracelyn back. Before she went in her surgeon came to talk with us. He shared some things with us that we didn't expect. Things that were honestly quite hard to hear. Things I could have done with out knowing today. Things that I will get the courage to share later. It made it that much harder to let her go. He tried to make it clear to us and remind us of just how hard it will be to see her when she is done. He said that her little head will be quite swollen. He said she will have a really bad headache for several days. There will be a lot more pressure in her head. I'm not sure how they measure it, but he said the pressure would go from 5-6 to 12-15. He said he was going to go in and try to accomplish 4 things. He would remove the stent, remove the shunt, create a new shunt and one other thing I didn't quite understand. The anesthesiologist came in to get her. He is awesome! We love Dr. Clark. It makes it easier that we hand her over to him. Before he took her we had to change her clothes. Grandma made Gracelyn her own special hospital clothes that actually fit. They were tiny scrubs. She could have been any cuter...okay maybe if she were smiling. She hadn't eaten since 1:30 and she was starving.
We have been told that it will be about 5-6 hours before they are done. They just came and told us that she is under and that they have begun. They will be back in and hour to update. Please keep our little lady and her doctors in your prayers.
She is too cute and so precious! We're praying for her. Love ya!
ReplyDeleteO my heck those scrubs are soooo cute!!! I also loved Dr Clark :) I remember all those things they say before you send them in. It is hard to hear. They told us about the headache thing but i didn't even notice, she didn't seem to bothered by it, but i think she is different from Grace, her stats were already kind of high and Gracelyns are low so she may feel it :( They keep them well medicated though so she will be ok. Hang in there, it'll be over soon.
